We chose Adobe Road Winery for our second wine-tasting sojourn after Covid-19 restrictions lifted in Sonoma. We discovered Adobe Road Winery last year when visiting dog-friendly wineries for our guide. Adobe Road Winery is the creation of Ken Buckler and his wife, Debra (Ken is a successful race car driver – hence the race car themes). Adobe Road Winery is known for its impressive red wine, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon. (I’m particularly taken with their Apex wine, Adobe Road’s version of a Bordeaux wine (a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot).
The occasion? Celebrating the winery’s new outdoor tasting salon (their permanent tasting salon is located at 6 Petaluma Blvd in Petaluma) at C & 1st Street in Petaluma. Airy and spacious with tables strategically placed for social distancing concerns, guests were able to taste wine in a relaxed atmosphere while eating delectable goods (the Ceviche!!!) from Green Grocer Catering. As a bonus, visitors could wander through the make-shift race car museum located right outside the tasting area for an up-close inspection.
I can’t think of a better way to spend a summer afternoon!
Update: Adobe Road Winery now has outside tasting available at 224 B Street Petaluma, CA. Call 707-774-6699 for more details. Appointments are not necessary. Regardless of where you go, do taste the wine because it’s well worth the effort.
Till next time
