If there is a better way to celebrate a return to normal from the pandemic doldrums than by indulging in a bit of wine tasting, I don't know what it would be. Last week, we spent several days at our favorite haunts in St. Helena and added a few new ones to our list.

Just a short jaunt (or hop) south of St. Helena on Highway 29, Hall Wines is easy to spot with its mascot, a gleaming 35-foot stainless-steel rabbit poised to greet guests as they venture through the winery's leafy entrance. Named Bunny Foo Foo by vintner and owner Kathyrn Hall in homage to the beloved children's song and created by sculptor Lawrence Argent, the statue injects just the right note of whimsy and magic into a dreary year.

Once inside Hall's opulent grounds, you'll find a beautifully manicured outside tasting area complete with more statuary to examine. Hall Wines has received many accolades through the years for their noteworthy Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux Blends, and offer several different tastings depending on your whim. I can personally vouch for their fabulous Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Under the watchful, knowledgeable eye of Lauren, our wine concierge, we sampled and wiled away the afternoon delighting in four of Halls's stellar Cabernet Sauvignon wines.
